Hilton has partnered with Be My Eyes to enhance accessibility for blind and low-vision guests during hotel stays. This free app connects users with sighted volunteers and businesses who assist them in navigating environments and completing tasks via video calls.
To use this service, guests can access the app's directory, select "hotels," and then choose the specific Hilton brand they are staying at. This connection provides direct access to dedicated Hilton teams who can guide users through various tasks, such as adjusting the room thermostat, making coffee, managing window coverings, and navigating different areas of the hotel. Currently, this partnership supports brands including Waldorf Astoria, Conrad, DoubleTree by Hilton, and Hampton by Hilton, but is limited to locations in the U.S. and Canada.
Hilton and Be My Eyes began their collaboration last year to refine the Be My AI language model, which employs GPT-4 technology. This initiative aims to enhance the model's capacity to recognize objects in hotel settings and assist users in navigating these spaces. Additionally, Be My Eyes utilizes AI to extract text from menus and toiletry labels, enabling users to understand the written information more effectively.
