iPad Calculator: Simplifying Your Math Calculations Effortlessly

One clear sign that you’re at a developer conference: the crowd erupts with excitement over the debut of a new Calculator app. This addition received the loudest applause at WWDC 2024 so far. Of course, there's still about an hour left for the company to unveil more of its cutting-edge features.

iOS’s classic Calculator app is finally making its debut on the larger screen. This new version takes advantage of the added display space to introduce features that simply couldn’t fit on the iPhone. The standout addition is Math Notes, a groundbreaking feature that handles calculations for you.

This enhancement makes the iPad an even more appealing tool for academics, though some educators might be hesitant about an app that does the work for students. We thought we had it great with graphing calculators in the past!

With Math Notes, users can sketch a formula using the Apple Pencil, and the integrated AI will effortlessly solve the equation. Apple briefly mentioned during today’s event that this feature will also be available on macOS Sequoia, with both iPadOS 15 and macOS updates expected later this year.

Additionally, Apple unveiled visionOS 2 for the Vision Pro, along with updates to the Photos app.
