Unlocking Google’s Duet AI: Your Ultimate Meeting Assistant, Document Summarizer, and Chat Companion

Google's Duet AI: Enhanced Generative AI Features Now Available for Google Workspace Organizations

Google has announced that its Duet AI, a powerful generative AI assistant, is now generally accessible to organizations using Google Workspace, as revealed at the Google Cloud Next event. After extensive testing with thousands of companies, Duet AI is set to introduce new features that include acting as a meeting assistant, a conversational chatbot in Google Chat, a document summarizer, and enhancing the personalization of smart replies in Gmail, among other capabilities. Interested customers can sign up for a complimentary trial of Duet AI.

One standout feature of Duet AI is its ability to generate presentations using text, charts, and images pulled from your Google Drive and Gmail. For example, a financial analyst might use Duet AI to compile a summary of Q3 performance by sifting through Google Sheets, P&L documents, business review slides, and emails from sales leads.

Duet AI also enhances Google Meet, helping users present themselves in the best light with studio-quality visuals and audio. The platform is rolling out dynamic video tiles and face detection, allowing participants to have personalized video tiles displaying their names, along with real-time translated captions in 18 different languages.

As a valuable meeting helper, Duet AI takes notes and generates recaps. Its “take notes for me” feature captures notes, action items, and video snippets in real time, sending a concise summary to attendees at the meeting's conclusion. This is particularly beneficial for latecomers who can catch up with the “summary so far” feature, which provides an overview of missed discussions.

Another intriguing capability is the “attend for me” feature, allowing Duet AI to participate in a meeting on your behalf. The AI can relay your messages to attendees and ensure you receive an informative recap afterward.

In addition to these features, Duet AI assists in building Google Slides presentations by helping compose speaker notes relevant to the slides. The AI also provides real-time teleprompting in Meet and offers automatic caption translation.

Google Chat is also receiving updates with enhancements from Duet AI. The revamped interface introduces new shortcuts and improved search functionality, enabling users to chat directly with Duet AI, similar to ChatGPT. Users can inquire about content in Gmail and Drive, receive summaries of shared documents, and stay updated on missed conversations. The AI-driven search now includes a redesigned results page featuring intelligent keyword highlighting and suggestions.

A new AI-powered home view in Chat simplifies finding work-related messages. Users can seamlessly transition to voice conversations via huddles — quick, audio-first meetings reminiscent of the Slack huddles feature. Additionally, Spaces and Chat will soon support up to 500,000 members.

Duet AI also enhances Gmail's smart reply feature, enabling users to draft more personalized responses effortlessly. Google is collaborating with organizations such as Typeface and Jasper to leverage generative AI for creating personalized content in Workspace.

With a user base of over 3 billion and more than 10 million paying customers, Duet AI’s general availability presents a significant opportunity to reach a broad audience. While pricing details for small businesses are still pending, enterprise pricing starts at $30 per month per seat. Google assures users that interactions with Duet AI remain secure within their corporate environment and that user data will not be shared without permission.
