An innovative AI startup co-founded by renowned tech investor David Sacks has officially emerged from stealth mode after operating discreetly since 2021. The company, named Glue, has crafted a cutting-edge platform that seamlessly integrates ChatGPT with popular collaboration tools such as Slack. This unique solution enables users to select their preferred large language model and collaborate effectively on projects.
Glue's platform stands out by allowing users to work alongside a “virtual team member.” It connects to various external resources, making collaborative efforts more streamlined and efficient. One of the key advantages of Glue is its user-friendly management system, which eliminates the need for individuals to join multiple channels to access crucial information. Instead, relevant discussions, termed “Glues,” can be easily shared among users. Each Glue is specifically centered around a particular topic, much like how ChatGPT organizes user conversations.
Currently, Glue supports two powerful language models: OpenAI’s GPT-4 and Anthropic’s Claude 3, with plans to introduce additional models in the near future. The platform is designed to integrate seamlessly with popular tools like GitHub, Google Meet, and Zoom, with intentions to expand support to include Google Drive, Sentry, and ClickUp in the upcoming releases.
While Glue is not yet fully available to the public, interested users can join a waitlist to be among the first to experience its capabilities. Sacks co-founded Glue with Evan Owen, the former head of engineering at Zinc, a workplace communication app acquired by ServiceMax in 2019. Their collaborative history dates back to their time at Yammer, the social media platform for businesses that Microsoft acquired in 2013.
Evan Owen commented on the necessity of Glue by saying, “Even before the launch of large language models, there was a growing consensus that channels don't scale with expanding teams. With Glue, we’ve liberated threads from the constraints of channels, creating the most natural way for AI to function as a teammate. The outcome is targeted, precise, and productive conversations.”
David Sacks added, “Every major paradigm shift triggers the emergence of a new communication tool. In the age of AI, Glue is that tool. It directly addresses channel fatigue, becoming the new hub for AI in the workplace.”
With its innovative approach, Glue aims to enhance productivity and redefine teamwork in an increasingly digital and AI-driven environment.
